Andrea Sala
@sala2.0
Born in 2001, Andrea Sala is part of a new generation of creators who understand technique from a contemporary perspective: rigorous, conscious, and aligned with the evolving needs of dancers. Her vision combines discipline, research, and sensitivity, bringing a renewed energy to the training landscape and defending a way of training where high performance coexists with respect for the individual process.
She began her training at the age of 4 with ballet classes in a small school in her neighborhood, encouraged by her mother, a former dancer who always dreamed of seeing her dance. At 6, she discovered her passion for jazz, and since then her path has been marked by constant, demanding, and deeply committed training.
From the age of 12, she trained more than 15 hours per week, developing a self-taught and disciplined mindset that continues to define her today. She was the student who arrived early to warm up, who worked on flexibility before class, and who understood from a very young age the importance of physical preparation, body care, and awareness of her own performance. For Andrea, growing in dance has always meant full commitment: physical, technical, and mental.
At 13, she began her competitive career as a soloist under the mentorship of Eva Angües, achieving first places in regional, national, and international competitions in 2017.
In 2018, she traveled to New York to participate in the Junior Training Program at Broadway Dance Center, specializing in contemporary.
In 2019, she was selected for the prestigious ISVP program at the same school, an intensive professional training where she trained with choreographers such as Nijawwon Matthews, Justin Conte, Michelle Barber, Talia Favia, Bo Park, and David Thomas, as well as complementing her training with workshops by artists such as JoJo Gomez, Diana Matos, and Yanis Marshall.
For a period of time, she lived in New York, immersing herself in the professional scene and expanding her artistic and technical vision from within.
Her contemporary training includes floorwork, improvisation, composition, and choreography, building a solid technical foundation and her own creative identity.
At the same time, she has continuously trained in Barcelona in styles such as jazz, lyrical, acrobatics, contemporary, commercial, ballet, and hip hop, attending numerous weekly classes and professional programs to intensify her training.
In addition to intensive training with teachers such as Albert Sala and Aixa Guerra, she has trained with professionals such as Carla Cervantes, Kiko López, Tony Leyva, Raymond Naval, and Mario González, and has further deepened her learning with Adrián Manzano, Cristian González, Ariadna Peya, and especially Ramón Oller, who was also her mentor.
Although she currently focuses mainly on teaching lyrical, contemporary, and technical foundation at Elevate Open Classes, her jazz training has been especially intense and decisive in her artistic development.
Her jazz background includes both New York and Barcelona, with specific training from dancers connected to the original Bob Fosse Broadway company, refining her stylistic precision, musicality, and performance quality.
She also regularly participates in high-level international intensives such as United Dance Camp in France, where she trains extensively with renowned teachers such as Meghan Sanett, Talia Favia, and Paris Cavanagh. With Meghan Sanett in particular, she has worked consistently both in New York and Spain.
With 10 years of teaching experience, she has taught contemporary, technical foundation, lyrical, jazz, acrobatics, and flexibility in multiple schools and training contexts. Since 2016, she has worked nationally and internationally, establishing herself as a versatile, rigorous, and approachable teacher and choreographer.
She was part of the Jove Companyia Som-hi Dansa, performing in productions such as Ningú balla amb mi, El Trencanous, and Phone Love.
In 2019, she founded Eyan Dance Company, creating works such as Carencias, Sextante, and Agua y Aceite, performing in venues such as Sala Versus Glòries, La Passió d’Esparreguera, and Auditori de Cornellà, and collaborating with festivals such as the Festival Grec de Barcelona.
She currently works as a dancer and choreography assistant in To The Me I Left Behind, by Alejandro Ortega’s company in Barcelona.
For Andrea, training never stops. She believes that to offer real quality as a teacher, it is essential to continue being a student. That is why she continues training, researching, and constantly renewing her material.
